Experimental
Orchard on Kibbutz Ketura
Virtual
Tour
A visit to our internationally acclaimed experimental orchard is an
experience not to be missed. With over 250 different varieties of fruit
trees and cacti, a walk through the orchard with one of our local experts
will both open your eyes and tickle your palate.
Since 1974, Dr. Elaine Solowey, a founding kibbutz member, has been
experimenting with desert agriculture. Time magazine recently featured
her groundbreaking work in the cultivation of Tibetan medicinal herbs.
Ketura, located in the southern Negev, is a perfect spot for those
looking for a family vacation or a group seminar in a safe, quiet corner
of Israel. A trip to the experimental orchard can be planned as a one-hour
stopover on the way to Eilat, a half-day experience including kosher
meals or any option that suits the needs of the group.
